|Titolo: ||La meccanizzazione agricola in Italia : aspetti tecnici, economici, ambientali e sociali|
|Issue Date: ||2013|
|Abstract: ||The aim of this paper is to give an articulate framework of the main issues regarding the agricultural mechanization in Italy, using a multidisciplinary approach.
In particular, on the basis of a thorough analysis about the evolution and the current proportion of the fleet, the paper examines closely some important aspects as: the comparison among the Italian regions and among Italy and other European countries; the impact of the machine-tilling on the soil; the European and Italian policies supporting farm mechanization; the economic weight of the machine sector and its role on productive results in the Italian agriculture; the issue of safety at work.
The structural analysis of the fleet’s evolution and proportion have been developed using information from INEA RICA database and are enhanced by a detailed statistical appendix.
Taking into consideration the strategies and the protection measures put in place on an European level, the issues of the impact of machine-tilling on the soil are discussed trying to identify more harmful practices as well as practices with a lower environmental impact. Thus, the paper includes a methodological proposal for the development of an evaluation index of the machining’s economical and environmental impact. Agricultural policy intervention supporting agricultural mechanization is evaluated from the second world war up to now. The economic importance of mechanization is examined taking into consideration both the weight of manufacturing industry and the role played by the machines in determining the results of the different kind of Italian farms.
The issue of safety at work is analysed trough a meticulous comparative analysis among Italian regions and European countries of labour accidents and trough an evaluation of the reliability of the machines, on the basis of the OECD codes.
The paper, besides the aforementioned statistical appendix, is also completed by a methodological note.|
